June Meeting

A Roman handle escutcheon, often described as a vessel or bucket mount, is a decorative piece of metalwork that was attached to the handle of a Roman bucket or other vessel.

These escutcheons were frequently crafted from bronze and could feature various designs, including human or animal heads, floral motifs, or geometric patterns. They served both a functional purpose, reinforcing the handle attachment, and an aesthetic one, adding visual interest to the vessel
